Andrew specialises in civil and commercial disputes, which includes matters relating to shareholder disputes, licensing disputes, and disputes involving credit agreements.

He has substantial experience acting as counsel for insurers in various classes of insurance policies including public liability, professional indemnity and all-risks insurance policies.

Outside the courtroom, Andrew also has prior experience with non-contentious work in the areas of corporate and commercial transactions and private client matters. These involved a wide range of commercial matters from tenancy agreements, shareholder agreements and franchising agreements, to more personal matters such as succession planning.

In 2023, Andrew completed a 6-month secondment with the Infocomm Media Development Authority where he worked closely with the legal team on the enforcement of the Telecommunications Act 1999 and the Personal Data Protection Act 2012.

Sample Cases

  • Represented a large multinational corporation to address acts of oppression committed by their majority joint venture partner.

  • Defended a large multinational telecommunications corporation against a claim for breach of a licensing agreement. The matter was arbitrated under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce and involved complex technical issues and wide-ranging discovery. The parties reached an amicable settlement.

  • Defended a high-net-worth individual from Malaysia against a claim for the enforcement of a credit agreement between him and a casino operator in Singapore, and successfully negotiated a settlement of the matter.

  • Represented the insurers of the National Parks Board involving the passing of a visitor to the Singapore Botanic Gardens in 2017. The matter proceeded to the Singapore High Court and was successfully settled.

  • Representing the directors of a large Singapore-listed entity with respect to potential breaches of their obligations under the SGX Listing Manual and Securities and Futures Act 2001.

  • Represented and advised the owner of a well-known Singapore pastries business to formulate mechanisms for the distribution of her wealth following her passing, due to the conflicts between her children.

  • Represented the business interests of a successful businessman, which included a health supplements business and an online platform to sell such products. Andrew worked on all aspects of the businesses, which included the preparation of company constitutions, the drafting of share purchase and shareholder agreements, and supply agreements with vendors. Andrew also managed all the corporate secretarial matters of the businesses, which included the conduct of meetings, the preparation of annual filings, and the crating of resolutions for day-to-day business operations and for specific transactions such as obtaining loan facilities.

  • Successfully conducted and executed the sale of a successful warehousing business in Singapore to a multinational corporation.

  • Drafted franchise agreements for a well-known F&B business in Singapore intending to franchise its business in other parts of Asia.

  • Represented a Singapore solar energy company on numerous matters including the preparation of supply agreements, and the restructuring of the entire corporate group.
